Only perfect binding and case-bound books can have a gilt edge, and your project must have at least 1cm of thickness on the paper edge of your book. Please note that this specialty option will add 3-5 days to your production turnaround time.

Why do books have gilt edges?
The gilt edge’s appearance is not the only, or even the primary, purpose; the gold leaf, applied and burnished into the page edges, prevents pollutants like dust from penetrating the book, making it much easier to clean.
