Things you should know before you play Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
Wrath of the Righteous is a CRPG with so many classes to choose from, each divided into sub-class archetypes, that there are probably whales down there. It also has prestige classes that can only be entered after bouncing between multiple base classes as you level up.
You won’t be locked into a mythic path
Wrath of the Righteous allows you to choose between realtime with pause and turn-based combat, with turn-based mode allowing you to speed up party and enemy animation speeds.
Maybe don’t be an archer
If you’re having trouble deciding between the 25 (!) base classes, focus on those who can go toe-to-toe. Any class will do, but if you like to leave companions in their roles, you’ll end up with a lot of back-row options.
Swarms still suck
Rat swarms are far more dangerous than cultists and dretches in Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous, as they can only be hurt by elemental damage, which low-level parties don’t have much of. The burning hands spell is a good way to deal with them.
Demons don’t care about lightning
Demons are the main enemies in Wrath of the Righteous, and they have a slew of resistances, including damage resistance, spell resistance, and immunity to mind-affecting spells. Weapons with a high enough enhancement bonus (the after their name) also ignore most DR.
Hex for success
Ember’s hexes aren’t limited in the way that most abilities are; you can cast a slumber hex on every enemy in every fight, and the vulnerability curse hex provides another way around demonic resistances. Cackle will extend the duration of other hexes while painting a charming image.
You can take your time
The quest system in Wrath of the Righteous is more forgiving than in Kingmaker; if you spend too much time away from your home base, your corruption level will rise; resting places, such as the Defender’s Heart or your capital, are sanctified against the Worldwound’s energies.
Respec yourself before you wreck yourself
If you don’t like how a build is turning out, talk to Hilor about retraining for gains, or you can respec by downloading one of the Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous mods.
The difficulty options are there for a reason
Most options can be changed on the fly in Wrath of the Righteous, so don’t worry about being stuck with your initial choices; only the “Last Azlanti mode” limits you to a single save midway.
