KDP Categories – Get More Exposure For Your Books
The categories you see in the product details section are called Amazon Browse Categories, and if you search for the categories listed in the screenshot above while publishing your book on KDP, you will find that they are nowhere to be found.
Choosing Categories
When you publish your book on KDP, Amazon will give you the option of choosing two main categories, and your book will be published in these two BISAC categories with the settings selected; all you have to do is feed it your main keyword (in this case, Halloween).
Additional Amazon Browse Categories
You can add EIGHT more Amazon browse categories to your coloring book, increasing its visibility across Amazon’s marketplace. Your book will be listed in a total of TEN categories for each of the BISAC searchable shopping categories. The first Amazon browse category’s path is Books > Children’s Books > Holidays.
Adding Your Book To More Categories
It’s time to contact KDP Support, which you can do by going to the bottom of your KDP dashboard and clicking on the Contact Us link, which will take you to a page where you can select the reason you’re contacting KDP support.
Wrapping It Up
Adding more categories to your book does not mean you will start selling all of your books off the shelf; rather, it tells Amazon which categories are the most relevant for your book, which leads to MORE visibility. Do not take advantage of the fact that you can do this with KDP, and go out there and make some sales.
