The entire preparation for PLAB 1 can be done by yourself, as the majority of the materials you’ll need are free, and social media, specifically Facebook, is a large and easy gathering place to discuss any questions you might have.

The best way to solve these questions is not to memorize which one is the answer right away, but rather to understand why the other four aren’t. Use as many question banks as you can find, and stick to a strict study plan to ensure you can review everything.

It is not necessary to know everything in these books; however, if you develop the habit of looking up question-related topics, you will find that you have read a lot of this book. If you still have questions, use free resources such as Patient Info or NICE guidelines.

How long does it take to prepare for PLAB?
Starting from the beginning with the goal of finishing the entire Oxford handbook is, in my opinion, the WORST way to prepare, as the books were not written with the purpose of an MCQ exam in mind. Instead, targeted studying should be the way to prepare.

IMGs who completed their Primary Medical Qualification (medical school) or are on the specialist register in the EU may be exempt from PLAB as of January 1, 2021, even if they are not EU nationals. EU nationals who attended a medical school outside the EU are no longer exempt from PLAB.
