The Death Note series is a collection of live-action Japanese films based on Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s Death Note manga series. The first two films adapt the manga series with significant changes, and the series then continues with original story lines.

Death Note: Light Up the NEW World, the fourth film, was released on October 29, 2016, and a three-episode prequel miniseries bridging the 10-year gap premiered on Hulu Japan on September 16, 2016.
Death Note and Death Note: The Last Name
Light Yagami is a To-Oh University student who despises the world’s crime and corruption. One day, he stumbles across a mysterious notebook known as the “Death Note,” which claims that if a human’s name is written within it, that person will be killed.
L: Change the WorLd
When a deadly virus outbreak strikes a small Thai village, F sends Watari a message, along with a boy who is immune to the virus; L must figure out who created the virus and stop them before it spreads worldwide.
Death Note: New Generation
Tsukuru Mishima, Ryuzaki, and Yuki Shien are the main characters in the prequel, which bridges the ten-year gap between the previous films. The three-episode series introduces the three new main characters, Tsukuru Mishima, Ryuzaki, and Yuki Shien.
Death Note: Light Up the NEW World
It’s been ten years since L and Light clashed, and shinigami have once again brought Death Notes to the ground. Tsukuru Mishima leads the Death Note Task Force, and a three-way battle for control of the notebooks ensues.

Reception to Death Note
Some fans preferred the Different story, preferring L to win in the end and stay alive until the end of the film, and according to a 2007 article in The Star (Malaysia), more than ten film companies expressed interest in a remake.
North American remake
On August 25, 2017, Netflix released a standalone Death Note film starring Nat Wolff as Light Turner (based on Light Yagami), Margaret Qualley as Mia Sutton (Misa Amane), and Keith Stanfield as L.
