Even if the cover image is embedded within the.epub or.pdf file, you may want to submit a separate file.
Please check that your content complies with Google’s guidelines before uploading any files, and if you plan to sell your books on the Google Play store, you should also review our publisher content policies.
The.pdf file must contain the entire book or be one of a set of specially named multi-part files, and the.epub file must be validated by EpubCheck. Do not upload sample content such as an excerpt.
Check the table below for example filenames based on how you plan to submit your files; an incomplete set of files will not be processed.
Which identifier to use:
If your book has a unique identifier, you don’t need to include it in the filename; if it doesn’t, you can use your own filenames; a 10-digit or 13-digit number should be avoided because it may be misinterpreted by our system.
Upload & update files
In the Partner Center, you can upload files for a single book or multiple books; to update a file, simply upload the new version, which replaces the old version.
One file for a single book
To update content or cover images for a single book, go to the “Content” tab in the book’s settings and upload the new file; to update content or cover images for an existing book listing, upload a new.pdf or.epub file to the existing book listing.
Multiple files for a single book
Go to the “Content” tab in the book’s settings, and double-check that your files follow the naming conventions. If you don’t submit all of the required files at once, they are listed under “Pending Content,” and the content or cover won’t process until you upload all of the expected files.
File status & history
By visiting your Book Catalog, you can check the status of files you’ve submitted; your most recently uploaded files that haven’t yet been processed will appear under “Pending Content.” Filenames listed in the history may differ from the filenames you used when submitting files.
